Schaumburg Boomers Claim Victory Over Mississippi
The Schaumburg Boomers launched a strong offensive performance in their series opener against the Mississippi Mud Monsters, winning 8-5 at Wintrust Field on Tuesday. Andrew Sojka ignited the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning. Although Mississippi managed to equalize with two runs in the second, the Boomers quickly regained control by scoring four runs in the same inning, highlighted by Will Prater's go-ahead single and Christian Fedko's two-run homer. The Boomers continued to build their lead, with Anthony Calarco hitting his 19th home run of the season in the third inning and John Fiorenza adding a solo shot in the fourth. Eric Turner, the starting pitcher, improved his record to 6-1 for the season, while Ross Thompson and Aaron Glickstein contributed to the game's success, allowing Dylan Stutsman to secure his first save by stranding three runners in the ninth inning.
